Sunday, July 7th

 Sunday, July 7th
Four of the party attended Friends' meeting, while Freddie and I went to a service in St. Paul's. After returning to the hotel, I separated from the others to spend the day with Father and the boys. Father went to W's with me for dinner, - after he had shown me many of his translations from the German- two very excellent in poetic merit. After a further visit upon Swithin and his wife, - at Lillian's home, - I left W's family to join father over his papers. Also, he showed me some fine old books of illustrations of the Odyssey, (35) the Iliad, and a few of Shakespeare's plays, - to be sent to me on the S.S."Philadelphia"
D.S.B and I paid a call on Miss S Bouroughs in the evening. During our call, Edith Howard ran in. It seemed strange to meet these two girls in London, whom I had last seen at Atlantic City at a House Party in 1908. So after a merry evening, we returned to the Grand for our last night in London.
It might be interesting to remember that the Grand seemed distinctly an Englishman's Hostelry. Either no Americans stop there, or else the transient A's hadn't hit London at the time of our stay
